Displaced Workers More Likely To "Multi" Task

June 7, 2001 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Displaced workers don't appear to be accepting a pay cut, but they do seem to be willing to take on more responsibility for the same money, according to a new study.

Conducted by OI Partners, Inc., the third annual Workplace Re-Employment Research Report found that over half (56%) of survey respondents reported their new jobs entailed more responsibility.

The survey also found those companies with more than 1,000 employees accounted for the greatest number of layoffs in 2000, according to 52.3% of respondents. That reading was up from 48.5% in 1999.

Of those surveyed, 28% landed jobs at companies of 1,000 or more employees while more than half (56%) went to companies of 500 and under. Twenty-one percent joined companies of 50 and fewer employees.
