DoL Accuses Goodyear of Discrimination in Hiring

June 19, 2006 ( - The Department of Labor (DoL) has filed a lawsuit accusing Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company of discriminating against female job applicants at one of its manufacturing facilities. reports that the DoL alleges that Goodyear, a federal contractor, violated an executive order which prohibits federal contractors, federally-assisted construction contractors and subcontractors from discriminating in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex and national origin.

The DoL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) alleges in the lawsuit that from January 1998 through June 1999 Goodyear used a hiring process and selection procedures that discriminated against hundreds of female applicants for entry-level positions at its Danville, Virginia facility, according to
