DoL Accuses Goodyear of Discrimination in Hiring
HR.BLR.com reports that the DoL alleges that Goodyear, a federal contractor, violated an executive order which prohibits federal contractors, federally-assisted construction contractors and subcontractors from discriminating in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex and national origin.
The DoL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) alleges in the lawsuit that from January 1998 through June 1999 Goodyear used a hiring process and selection procedures that discriminated against hundreds of female applicants for entry-level positions at its Danville, Virginia facility, according to HR.BLR.com.
The DoL is seeking to have Goodyear hire and provide back wages, retroactive seniority and all other employment benefits to the female applicants.
