DoL Unveils Web-based Overtime Pay Calculator
May 9, 2007 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The U.S. Department
of Labor's Wage and Hour Division has released a new
Web-based tool to help employers and workers calculate
overtime pay, according to HR.BLR.com.
Reported by Adrien Martin
The tool, which can be accessed at http://www.dol.gov/elaws/otcalculator.htm , also gives examples of how the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime pay should be completed under several scenarios.
According to a news release, the Overtime Calculator:
- Computes the overtime due in a sample pay period based on information submitted by the user, such as the primary method of pay, additional compensation paid in the form of bonuses, commissions, and shift differentials, and information relating to the hours employees worked.
- Totals the hours worked during the sample pay period and then calculates the overtime pay due for any overtime hours worked.
- Provides links to definitions and detailed information on overtime pay requirements.
More information about the FLSA is available from the DoL here .
