GOP Announces Plans to Repeal Health Care Law
January 4, 2011 (PLANSPONSOR.com) – Among the bills and resolutions scheduled for consideration in the next couple of weeks by House Republicans is one to repeal the health care reform law.

Titled “Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act,” the proposal says the provisions of law amended or repealed by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act would be restored or revived as if it had not been enacted. The bill also proposes to repeal health care-related provisions of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.
The Republican agenda also includes a resolution instructing certain committees to propose legislation replacing the health reform law.
CBS News reports that in the GOP rules package, which will be voted on January 5, is word that Republicans can “exempt the budgetary effects of legislation repealing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010.” This is an exemption from a rule laid out by the incoming House Republican majority that the House must pay for all new legislation that increases federal spending.
