JPMC Workers Sue for Back Wages

December 19, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - A group of current and former employees has sued J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., seeking back pay for overtime they say the banking company never paid them.

Tracie Cooper, a J.P. Morgan account officer; Peter Gary McIntyre, a J.P. Morgan associate; and Janne Peltier, a former client services officer, filed the lawsuit seeking class-action status in federal court in New York, according to Dow Jones.

The employees claim that J.P. Morgan for at least three years prior to the complaint has violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by misclassifying low-level employees as salaried-exempt employees and, as a result, not paid them overtime.

Cooper has worked at J.P. Morgan since 1996; McIntyre since 1994. Peltier worked at the company from 1994 to 2002.
