Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors File Gender Discrimination Suit

June 23, 2006 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Female advisors have filed a lawsuit against Morgan Stanley alleging gender discrimination against them starting in August 2003.

Mehri & Skalet and Sprenger & Lang, the two law firms leading the suit that was filed in the District of Columbia federal court say they have already been in “productive dialogue” with the Morgan Stanley and that some kind of remedy is expected to be announced later this year, according to the firms’ news release.

The mediator in the suit, Hunter Hughes of Atlanta-based Rogers & Hardin said that the parties in the lawsuit are expected to continue “their fruitful discussions” and foresees a settlement soon.

In response to the suit, Morgan Stanley said in a statement that “The Firm is committed to enhancing the performance of its female financial advisors and will continue to work with the class counsel on changes to accomplish this objective.”
