Online Job Demand Up in November

December 2, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - The Monster Employment Index of online job demand rose three points in November, reaching a record high of 117, a figure that is almost 30 points above last November's total.

During the month, 10 of the 20 industries tracked saw slight increases in online job demands. Professional, Scientific & technical services, and utilities saw the largest in increases on the month, while management of companies & enterprises, accommodation & food services, and finance & insurance saw the largest declines. Manufacturing construction and public administration all remained essentially stagnant on the month.

Online demand for workers also increased in 14 out of 23 occupational groups covered by Monster In November. Health care saw the largest demand increase, with a 15 point ump in the index noted. Monster noted that this is most likely an industry response to the large number of medical school graduates entering the workforce in December. Business & financial operations registered its eleventh straight month of growth, while military specific operation jobs were off significantly. Computer & mathematical occupations registered the sharpest decline on the month.

By region, online job demand rose in all nine US Census Bureau regions in November, with every region at much higher levels than last November, according to Monster. States that saw the biggest increases in November were Texas, Florida, and South Carolina. Forty of the 50 states saw online job increases on the month. In terms of online job availability in November, Arizona, District of Columbia, Maryland and Delaware were the top four states. Based on sheer quantity size, it is not surprising that California came out on top for November.
