Senate Passes Ledbetter Fair Pay Act
Business Insurance reports the Senate passed the Act by a 61-36 vote. Under the bill, as long as workers file charges within 300 or 180 days of a discriminatory paycheck, depending on the state where they live, their charges would be considered timely, effective retroactively to May 28, 2007, the news report explained.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed the legislation earlier this month (see House Passes Pay Discrimination Bills ). Differences between the Senate and House versions of the bill will have to be reconciled before it is sent to President Obama to sign.
Obama is expected to sign the legislation, according to the news report.
