Survey: Office-Paid Bills Build Personal Stress

November 5, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Bringing your personal finances to the office may not pay.

According to a new survey from WorldWIT and E-Duction, nine of 10 women who pay more than five bills while they’re in the office are more moderately and considerably stressed out about their monetary well being than those who don’t. So, not only are employers losing productivity to bill paying – more than half (55%) cut personal checks while at work – but also to the accompanying stress level.

On the flip side, keeping personal bill paying in the comfortable confines of your home apparently has its own rewards. According to the survey, more than two-thirds of the women who claimed to be financially stress-free do not pay creditors while on the job.

This comes amid the larger context of growing financial stresses on women professionals in general. According to the survey, more than 95% reported experiencing some level of stress due to finances.

The survey covered more than 10,000 women professionals who are part of the WorldWIT membership that includes affluent, well-educated, women ranging in age from 25 to 50 years old.
