Workplace Stress Skyrockets
May 20, 2003 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - ComPsych
Corporation, a Chicago-based employee-counseling company, has
seen first hand the many and varied stresses on today's
workers.
Reported by Fred Schneyer
According to a company news release, ComPsych has seen a 23%-increase in “critical incident counseling” requests for its client companies in the first quarter 2003 over the year before.
Of the CISDs ComPsych conducted in first quarter 2003:
- 38% were related to the death of an employee – including 4%, which were employee suicides
- 35% were related to robberies
- 27% were related to worker anxiety and terminations.
These sessions were conducted at employer sites by ComPsych counselors in group and one-on-one sessions to minimize employees’ adverse reactions to trauma, the company said.
