BIO: Adam Voeste, client relationship manager with Ascensus, enjoys his specialty working with Ascensus’ large plans.

Adam Voeste, client relationship manager with Ascensus, marvels at the fast pace at which the COVID-19 pandemic hit his client, a hospitality industry technology company, and the sheer volume of data that it impacted.

Voeste says this was particularly challenging because his client was going through a recordkeeping system change from another recordkeeper to Ascensus. “With these types of conversions, there are challenges when it comes to converting from one provider to another to get everyone on the same page and speaking the same language, i.e. accurately mapped over to our system,” Voeste says.

Paulina Gilbert, payroll and benefit specialist, says Voeste handled the conversion—and more, noting, “There have been multiple times this year that Adam has gone above and beyond, and he is amazingly fast at returning emails and calls.”

She adds that the client terminated more than 120 people within three months, and quickly rehired 85 of them back. “Adam not only helped me through the regulations of how this affected our automatic enrollment plan, but he also helped me ensure that employees had all the information they needed to get back to participating quickly and accurately based on our plan rules. He helped me to review these 85 people individually and ensured I understood any exceptions.”

Additionally, Voeste handled a plan-wide vesting issue that arose from poor data from the previous recordkeeper and quickly solved a qualified domestic relations order (QDRO) question that had been worrying one employee for weeks.
