New Workplace Nutrition Site Kicks Off

May 7, 2004 (PLANSPONSOR.com) - Companies looking for ways to improve their workers nutritional habits have a new Web-based tool at their disposal.

Healthy Workplace Week has been created to provide an informational and free Web-based program designed to help both companies and individual employees learn new ways to incorporate better nutrition and fitness into the workday. This in turn will lead to greater productivity, according to an announcement by the Institute for Health and Productivity Management (IHPM) and the American Association of Working People (AAWP) who entered into a partnership with the makers of Ensure.

To facilitate their program, the group has created a Web site www.workplacenutrition.com , which includes:

  • suggested workplace activities to help involve and educate co-workers;
  • a workplace snacking style survey;
  • fitness and nutrition articles;
  • additional information to help companies.

The consortium of companies promoting improved workplace health citeU.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data that finds $9 billion in workplace productivity is lost each year due to diet-related conditions such as heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes.
